🐾 Walk for Mind in May

Step out, feel good, and support better mental health across Somerset

This May, we’re inviting our whole community — people, pups, families, workplaces and schools — to take part in Walk for Mind in May, a month‑long walking challenge celebrating the positive power of pets, the joy of being outdoors, and the difference we can make when we take action together.

Whether you walk one mile or one hundred, every step helps us support local people who are struggling with their mental health.

🧠 Why Walk? The Positive Power of Pets & the Outdoors

Walking — especially with animals — is proven to support mental wellbeing. It aligns beautifully with the Five Ways to Wellbeing:

  • Connect: Meet other walkers and share your stories
  • Be active: Great exercise that boosts mood and lowers stress
  • Learn: Discover new routes and local green spaces
  • Give: Fundraise to support people in your community
  • Take notice: Enjoy the small, wonderful things around you

Pets play a significant role in improving mental health by providing emotional support, reducing anxiety, and enhancing mood. Walking together strengthens that bond.

💙 This May, Take Action

The theme for Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 is Action. Your action — your steps, your story, your fundraising — helps us support thousands of people across Somerset.
