The Somerset Suicide Bereavement Support Service is a service dedicated to supporting you through every confusing aspect of suicide bereavement. We are here to offer you emotional support, guidance through trauma and sorting out personal affairs.
Our fully trained members of staff are here to advise on matters such as liaising with the Police, Coroner’s office and faith groups. Most importantly, we are here to listen at a time of great stress and anguish.
We can provide telephone and face-to-face support, and accommodate to remote and online working.
We also host an evening peer support group in Taunton for anyone bereaved by suicide, however recently or long ago. Our peer support group is a safe place where people can share their stories and feelings and
derive some comfort from spending time with those who have similar experiences.
We also understand the affect that suicide bereavement can have on the young people in our lives. Our dedicated support worker, Emma Cummings, specializes in children’s and young people’s bereavement and can offer support to children aged 5+. Alongside this, we offer a quarterly online peer group for any young person in Somerset bereaved by suicide as an opportunity to talk through anything bereavement related with people there own age.
Our monthly outreach surgeries are a key time to meet our support workers and lived experience volunteers in locations near to you. We run regular outreach surgeries in Yeovil, on the last Wednesday of the month. For a 1-1 with a support worker in Yeovil please email [email protected]
Anyone in Somerset who is bereaved by suicide can phone or email us directly. We do not accept 3rd party referrals at this time.
