Our knowledgeable and friendly gardening co-ordinator, Faye, runs this project. The Vanessa Gardening Project provides a welcoming, safe place where people can work together with others outside of a mental health setting. Gardening can have so many beneficial effects on people, whatever their age or background.
This project allows members to:
- Discuss what you would like to gain from the project
- Set some individual goals to work towards
- Learn new skills
- Meet new people & perhaps form new friendships
- Build their confidence
- Get out in the fresh air!
The group go down to the allotment in all weathers – if it is raining they like to enjoy a cup of tea whilst taking shelter in the polytunnel. On sunnier days, they potter about the allotment weeding the beds & growing their own vegetables to take home or share with other members of the group.
The Vanessa Gardening Project meet every Tuesday 11am – 1pm at St. Marks Methodist Church Hall (Yeovil), to chat about the session prior to moving to the allotment. The sessions are free but please bring a packed lunch and suitable clothing. All abilities are welcome to join.
