What is MHFA Champions?
MHFA Champions is a one-day mental health training course developed by Mental Health First Aid England. It’s ideal for anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of mental health and support others in their workplace or community. Champions are not mental health first aiders, but they play a key role in creating inclusive, supportive environments and promoting mental wellbeing.
What will I learn on MHFA Champions training?
- Recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health conditions
- Approach and support someone experiencing poor mental health
- Start a conversation and listen non-judgementally
- Signpost to appropriate professional and self-help support
- Understand the impact of stigma and how to challenge it
- Explore ways to support your own mental wellbeing
- Understand your role in promoting a mentally healthy culture
